About Sex Actually
The sex education that most of us never actually got.
Good sex education shouldn’t be this hard to find.
WHY WE EXIST
Most of us grew up with sex education that was incomplete at best and harmful at worst. It usually covered the basics but left enormous gaps. It rarely talked about pleasure and it didn’t address the full spectrum of identities and experiences. It failed to prepare us for the complexity of real relationships, real bodies and real life.
Sex Actually exists because those gaps have consequences. When people don’t have access to accurate, shame-free information about sex and intimacy, it affects their wellbeing, their relationships and their sense of self.
“Good sex education shouldn’t be hard to find and it shouldn’t make you feel worse about yourself for needing it.”
That’s why Sex Actually exists.
WHO IS BEHIND IT
Built by clinicians.
For everyone.
Sex Actually was created by a Clinical Psychologist with a background working in physical and sexual health and working with people navigating exactly the kinds of questions this site tries to answer.
Every article is written or reviewed by qualified professionals. Where lived experience adds something clinical knowledge alone cannot, we work with individuals who bring that perspective.
WHO IT’S FOR
Sex Actually is for Everyone
People who feel confused, curious or unsure
People whose experiences don’t match what they were taught
People navigating health conditions, identity shifts, or relationship challenges
People who never got the information they needed the first time around
Regardless of gender, identity, relationship structure, age, ability or background
HOW ARTICLES ARE CREATED
Evidence-based.
Always.
Every article on Sex Actually is grounded in evidence, drawing on established clinical knowledge, research and the expertise of qualified professionals. We aim to make information easy to understand and access.
Where an article touches on lived experience, we seek input from people with direct personal experience of that topic. Clinical expertise and lived experience are equally valued here.
WHERE WE’RE GOING
A Growing Library
Sex Actually is always expanding with new articles, more experiences represented, more of the questions mainstream sex education still fails to answer.
We’re always looking for clinicians, researchers, and exerts by experience who share our values. We are committed to keeping the site inclusive and accessible so if something doesn’t feel right, please tell us!
